Earth Lights Illuminated Globe

I just love the look of decorative globes – although my own sense of global positioning is woefully lacking. (When I was growing up, I thought that the direction in front of me was always automatically north. I guess I really was the center of my own universe!) So even though I might not be able to point out Seychelles or Liechtenstein, I can still appreciate the awesomeness of the City Lights Earth Illuminated Globe. As it slowly rotates, various cities begin to illuminate – mimicking what it might look like if you were viewing various parts of the earth. So pretty! It reminds me of those spiky fiber optic lamps I used to love in the ’80s – except this is all educational and lacking in lameness. So there’s that.

Build-A-Meal Plate Set

If ever I’ve experienced a truly random case of “DO WANT”, this would be it!

I like to think that I have cool enough friends who would appreciate the hilarity in the construction plate and utensils set by Urban Trend. Just imagine hosting a little get together – perhaps over some D&D or a Lost marathon? – and whipping out a set of these construction zone plates for everyone to munch from. The kid below sure digs the idea (veggies on the fork and a thumbs up – that’s some quality product endorsement, folks!)

Personally, I think it would make a fantastic plate for dips, chips n’ snacks – or “appetizers” and “crudités” for those fancy-pants foodies out there. Gives a whole new meaning to “playing with your food”, and a well deserved one at that!

Now before you get any ideas (you cheeky monkeys, you) – I have no desires or designs on having a little army of crumbsnatchers any time soon. But my big ol’ melty heart was all kinds of “d’awwwww!” when I saw these freakin’ adorable Baby Star Wars Prints by Ginormousrobot. You can purchase the Darth Vader, Princess Leia, R2-D2, or Luke Skywalker prints separately, or get all four at a nice discount. Know a Star Wars fanatic who has a baby shower coming up? These prints would score you sooooo much geek cred! [Via Rare Bird Finds]

Iron Man 2 Operation Game

Now THIS is how you re-brand a classic game and make it modern (and awesome) once again!

If you’ve ever had a desire to stick things into the not-so-naughty bits of Tony Stark, now’s your chance! Entertainment Earth is taking pre-orders for the rad Iron Man 2 version of Operation – a game I loved as a kid, even if my unsteady hands always got the best of me. (Good thing I got my imaginary doctorate in sex education instead!) Operation: Iron Man 2 debuted at the 2010 Toy Fair and will be available in March – just in time to whet your appetite for the film release of the sure-fire blockbuster in May. [Via Gizmodo]

So I have to admit, I don’t know that I’d necessarily want these Super Mario Bros Wall Stickers on my bedroom wall. I mean, c’mon – a diminutive Italian man jumping over my headboard with his legs all akimbo wouldn’t necessarily get me in the mood for sweet lovin’. But your mileage may vary! However, I love the idea of putting them in a bathroom, which is often the most criminally under-decorated room of the house. And of course, what better way to teach your kids about the roots of modern console gaming than by plastering their walls with some retro Mario goodness? Now if only they can find the warp whistle …
